Andy Mills graduated from Southern Lehigh in 1975, where he lettered in both football and baseball. After graduation, Mills attended West Chester University, majoring in Elementary Education while playing baseball. After graduating from West Chester in 1979, Mills was hired by Southern Columbia until he retired in 2015 after 36 years.

Mills coached both baseball and football during his time at Southern Columbia. He was the head coach of the baseball program from 1980-1995, compiling a record of 248-168. The Tigers qualified for the District IV playoffs 9 times, won in 1994 and made it to the PIAA Eastern Final.

Mills has coached football at Southern for the last 45 years, spending 41 of them as the Tigers' Defensive Coordinator. Mills, alongside current D4 Hall of Fame coach Jim Roth, helped guide the Tigers to 31 District IV titles and 14 PIAA titles in 22 appearances. Mills was also inducted into the Bernie Romanoski Hall of Fame in 2011.

Mills currently resides in Elysburg with his wife of 42 years, Kimberly, and daughter Adele.
