Coach George Curry spent his life educating students, be it in the classroom or on the field. He taught World History, American History, and Driver Education. He also spent 16 years as an administrator (Assistant Principal, Acting Principal, and Assistant to the Superintendent). Coach Curry enjoyed working with young people.

Coach Curry spent 46 years as a head football coach at Berwick High School, Lake-Lehman, and Wyoming Valley West Schools. He had amazing success, at the time, becoming the winningest coach in Pennsylvania history with 455 wins, 6 State Championships, and 3-time USA Today National Champions.

Coach Curry was all about education, with his players earning millions of dollars in scholarships. Over 120 players received full scholarships and hundreds more received partial scholarships. Coach Curry is proud of the fact that over 90% of his players graduated from college.

Coach Curry certainly got his players ready for the world. He taught commitment, accountability, leadership, and work ethic. He was also a stern disciplinarian. The players bought into his style!

Coach Curry married Jacqueline Deluca, and together they built a life spanning 48 years of partnership and devotion. He was the proud father of four children: Cosmas, Christine, Kelly Ann, and Nadine. and is grandfather to six grandchildren. Coach Curry was a man of clear priorities: his faith in Jesus Christ held the highest place (#1 God), followed by his family and friends (#2 Family), and his work with student athletes both on and off the football field (#3 Football). Coach George Curry passed away on April 1, 2016, at his home in Berwick, Pennsylvania, following complications from ALS. His legacy endures in the thousands of lives he touched and the standard of excellence he established.
