Former Mount Carmel standout Brett Veach has been selected to serve as Honorary Captain for this year's District IV UPMC North-South All-Star game.
Veach was named General Manager of the Kansas City Chiefs on July 10, 2017 after previously serving as the team's Pro and College Personnel Analyst (2013-14) and Co-Director of Player Personnel (2015). During his team as GM, the Chiefs won eight consecutive AFC West championships and played in seven straight AFC Championship games, and won three Super Bowls (2020, 2023, 2024).
Veach joined the Chiefs after spending six years with Philadelphia Eagles. With the Eagles, Veach spent three years as the Assistant to Head Coach Andy Reid, one year in their Player Personnel Department as a Pro and College Scout, and two years as a Southeast Regional Scout.
A Mount Carmel native, Veach was the 1996 All-State Player of the Year after leading the Red Tornadoes to a Class 2A state championship over Tyrone (25-6). He was chosen to play in the 1997 Big 33 Football Classic, which team PA won, 21-20 over Ohio, on the game's final drive. Veach rushed for 5,261 yards on 833 career attempts, scoring 61 touchdowns. He also caught 53 passes for 960 yards and 7 scores, and at one time held 12 Red Tornado records.
After graduation, Veach attended the University of Delaware and earned a Bachelor's in Heath and Physical Education, then a Master's in Education. Veach was a four-year letterman at wide receiver for the Blue Hens, catching 99 passes for 1,470 yards (14.8 avg.). He left Delaware as the school's all-time leader in kickoff return yards with 1,558 yards. He also earned Atlantic 10 Conference All-Academic honors three times during his collegiate career.
Veach and his wife, Alison, have three children: Elijah, Wylan and Ella.
